Ask your MST which e.g. math and/or science concepts the children are learning at the moment. Find out how she helps them to understand these ideas. Ask about how language is part of this learning.

Observation Task 7-Classroom management and teacher talk

Focus:Classroom Management 

Observe the teacher and complete the following table

Beginning and ending the day
Punctuality at the beginning of the lesson	Teacher come in time every day if she will be late she let us know that before to be in class with students until she come or giving the homework to the student to start doing and helping them in.
Teacher’s response to those who are late. What does she say?	She ask them about the reason of being late she avoid saying hurtful words and mostly she give them the trust and believe their reason. She respect their reason and said to them its ok but let me know before to avoid any circumstances.
	If they be late longtime without any reason she said “if you will be late without any reason you will not enter the lesson”.
	Sometime if they be late more than 2 minutes the student will stand up in the end of the class area for 30 minutes.
Starting the day: what does the teacher say? do?	First she greet student next they start the lesson with week words all the class say in one time in English  and meaning in Arabic. Then she start checking their homework’s and review what they was learn yesterday in other words in the last class. Finally, she start her new lesson with sorting the plan to them what they will take today in the lesson, kind of game and pages of homeworks..
Lining up : location	Most of time the teacher be with students in the classroom but  sometime in science lesson she teach them in laboratory or in the library. room or library.
Teacher instructions for lining up: what does she say? do?	She said after each lesson “everyone hand up and pensile down” each group go quietly by carrying their own items to arrive to the place where the teacher chosen to teach them.
Ending the day:  what does the teacher say? /do?	She ask the student what they should do because in every week she give them like a schedule with exams and homework then if any student needs a help they can stay with her and she will explain for them just in the break time.
Moving
Moving the children for an activity. What does she say? do?	The teacher stop them if they was do anything anything then lining up and move without any noise.
Moving the children: how do they respond?	They said to each other go to your group and in your places.
Misbehaviour
What was the learner doing?	some of them start shouting , teacher if she give them many thing and some of them not do the work and play with anything around them
What did the teacher say? do?	The teacher speak with firstly before she’s sorting the appropriate  punishment through giving more tasks to do compare to other students in the class and short time to do it. Sometime the teacher speak with their parents.
How did the child respond:	Some of them said its ok my family know i’m not study you can do what you like no problem and some of them said Ms s give us last chance we will work hard in.
How does the teacher stop the children at the end of an activity? What does she say? do?	She said for them pot put your hand up your head and she said: One,two,three then they replay and said: look at me.

Observation Task 6-A day in the life of a child who has exceeded cognitive level expectations

Brief description: 

Some time she like to learn and some time like to move and play.

12:46	Take math lesson	she like math and she is very smart in..She didn’t have any problem thorugh solving  math calculation. When she need any help reem start asking her teacher for more explanation and some time ask her friends.
1:27	Take science lesson	Reem hate science and find many things difficult in this subject, but the problem is her  focusing not that much during thee class time.  to learn.
1:46	Show science project	She show us her project about how its work but she didn't give us more information which shows she spend a lot through doing for example: using picture and not that much research
2:00	Back to home	She collect all her things and leave the classroom. She be careful in this point.

After the observation

How many different activities did the learner do?

They had three activities each is divided in three subjects such as:  English, Mathematics and science. 

How did s/he interact with the other learners throughout the day?

Normally, helping them if they did not understand during the lesson, repeat the instruction of the activity which that help other learners to understand it well. Sometime, motivate them through submitting their answer faster than other students and give them a candy. That will build in the learners the trust in themselves and encourage them more and more through having motivation environment around them. 

What was the longest period of time the learner spent focusing on one activity?

The longest was 30 minutes in Science subject. 

What did the learner do during the break times? 

Spending that time with their friends from other classes, some of the students went to see their teacher to ask question about their homework , points in the projects they didn’t understand it well. 

What did the learner’s attention span / interest during activities seem like?

The happiness through having new activities lead them to interact more and more during the lesson, telling the group the plan so, they can answer the question during the activities to win at the end. Their interest is mix between their benefits from the lesson through learning new words for example. And also, from having fun rather than normal routine which other teacher us it. 

What did the learner seem to like doing the most / least during the day?

They like mostly working in the groups and work together to find the answers first rather than other group. The least I observed mostly they did not tend to work individually or presenting their group and show their work in the presentation in front of other student and teacher.
